Dr Elgin has specialized in Emergency Medicine and has undertaken the New Zealand Postgraduate Diploma in Community Emergency Medicine. As well as having wide experience in general surgical procedures, Dr Elgin’s career has had a special focus on the emergency management of trauma as well as pediatric and cardiac life support. Dr Elgin began editing for Edanz Editing in 2006 and edits in fields related to both research and practical medicine.

For three years, Dr Furness was a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research, Glasgow, where she used extensive molecular genetic techniques to examine the factors influencing the growth of hematopoietic stem cells, with relevance to the development of cancers such as leukemia. Later Dr Furness was a researcher at Glasgow University where she analyzed the energetic requirements of seabirds, using field observations, analysis of radioisotopes from blood samples and metabolic monitoring of birds in respirometers. Dr Furness is a scientific editor with extensive experience of abstracting, indexing and editing scientific papers on a wide range of topics including general medicine, pharmacology and genetics, with personal experience of active scientific research and the publishing of research papers. From 1993 to 2007, Dr Furness was a Specialist Medical Indexer at Thomson Scientific. She began working with Edanz Editing in 2007.

Dr Colebrooke’s PhD title was “Molecular, neurochemical and behavioural analyses of a novel dopamine-depleted mouse model of Parkinson’s disease.” She then was a post-doc research scientist in the Laboratory of Molecular Neuroscience, The Babraham Institute, UK. Dr Colebrooke is familiar with all the usual laboratory techniques and tests, along with small animal models. Dr Colebrooke has several first-authored publications in international journals. She began as an editor with Edanz Editing in 2006.

Dr Cant has been a Research Fellow (Pharmacology) at the University of Edinburgh and a Research Assistant at the University of London and the University of Oxford, as well as a Lecturer in Physiology at the University of Aberdeen where she also established an electrophysiology laboratory for investigation of drug effects on electrical activity in isolated mammalian cardiac ventricular cells. Dr Cant also has extensive writing and editing experience, having edited papers in biological and physical sciences for the European Community CORDIS Results and Publications databases, as well as for the BEST (British Expertise in Science and Technology) database and its sister database in the US. Dr Cant was a medical editor/database indexer for Thomson Scientific for a number of years and has a wide knowledge of various areas including cardiovascular disease, gastroenterology, neuroscience, epidemiology, pharmacology and physiology.

Ms. Van Dervort's career in medical editing began at W.B. Saunders Company (Elsevier), where she worked as a production editor, overseeing the copyediting and production of more than 3,000 journal pages each year.  She also trained new editors and served as liaison between manuscript authors and editors-in-chief. Her experience in medical publishing covers the biomedical and life sciences fields. She joined the Edanz Group as an editor and medical writer in 2011.

Ms Holmes is a senior academic, recently retired from the position of Director of the University Centre for Teaching and Learning at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. As a qualified Chartered Surveyor, she practiced and taught surveying for many years, before moving into research and development support for academics in their teaching careers. This cross disciplinary role exposed her to working with academics from all disciplines across the University. She has published in the fields of education, surveying and academic audit and has been on national selection panels for the allocation of research and development funding both in the United Kingdom and New Zealand. With her diverse background in languages, surveying and education, Ms Holmes edits in the fields of environment, engineering, business, geography and general science, and bring specialist knowledge to the editing of grant and academic position applications. She began working with the Edanz Group in 2010.

Ms Tourle’s MSc studies addressed the effects of ant predation on the efficacy of biological control agents for Lantana camara (Verbenaceae) in South Africa. Before these studies she had worked at the Iziko Museum (SA) identifying ant morphospecies. After graduation Ms Tourle worked with Prof. Wehner at Irchel University (Switzerland) preparing his extensive ant collection for hand-over to the Senckenberg Museum. From her studies Ms Tourle has had two peer reviewed papers published. She joined the Edanz Group as an editor in 2011.
