Academic Background: Ms Avila’s scientific background spans nearly 20 years’ experience in academic research, biotechnology, and public health settings, across a breadth of disciplines including: psychoneuroimmunology, hematology-oncology, and neuroscience; infectious disease epidemiology and surveillance; and public health microbiology and virology.

Editing and Reviewing Experience: Ms Avila specializes in author editing for non-native speakers of English as a board-certified Editor in the Life Sciences (ELS) and has translated and edited books and manuscripts in a range of academic fields including nutrition; preventive and community medicine; global, environmental, and allied health; and science and public health education. Fluent in Spanish, Ms Avila is a certified scientific and medical translator and interpreter. Ms Avila joined Edanz Group as an editor in 2014.
