Deborah Ballantine

Academic Background: Dr Deborah Ballantine is an experienced environmental scientist specializing in water and sediment quality, water quality statistics, and mitigation options for diffuse pollution. For her graduate studies, she developed a conceptual model that represented the sediment-associated transport of phosphorus through river catchments over time. After working as a scientist for a government organization in the UK, research institutes in New Zealand, and universities in China, Dr Ballantine is currently engaged in tertiary education management in New Zealand. She has published reports on topics covering water quality indices and trends, assessing the effectiveness of mitigation options for rural diffuse pollution, and improving phosphorus retention in constructed wetlands.
