Lesley McCollum

Academic Background: Dr McCollum is a neuroscientist with expertise in the neurobiology of psychiatric disorders. Her doctoral research investigated the neurochemistry and neuroanatomy of schizophrenia in human postmortem tissue, and the effects of antipsychotic medications on the brain in rats. Dr McCollum's work focused on the dopaminergic and glutamatergic systems, and ultrastructural analysis of synaptic connections in the striatum. She is experienced in histology, immunohistochemistry, western blotting, stereology, and light and electron microscopy.

Publishing History: Dr McCollum has authored several peer-reviewed papers, five as first author, in journals including Neuropsychopharmacology, Schizophrenia Bulletin, and the World Journal of Biological Psychiatry. She has presented her work at numerous international conferences, and has been an invited speaker for the International Congress on Schizophrenia Research meeting.
