Tina Tin

Dr Tin’s doctoral research at University of Alaska Fairbanks was focused on sea-ice geophysics. It combined fieldwork in Antarctica with statistical analysis and ocean–ice modelling to explore sea-ice morphology and dynamics, contributing to our understanding of the role of the cryosphere in the climate system. Since then, Dr. Tin’s work has expanded to include climate change science and policy. She has managed research teams to study climate change impacts in Europe and Canada, developing technical reports and non-technical summaries for policy makers. Bringing together her experience from her Bachelor and Master degrees in Engineering from the University of Cambridge and her passion for the environment, she continues to conduct research on the impacts of human activities in Antarctica, wilderness protection, and other environmental management policies. Dr. Tin has published more than 60 technical papers, 15 of which have been published in peer-reviewed journals. She has co-edited and co-authored two books on climate change and on environmental science and management. Dr. Tin has been a science editor since 2005, working internationally with native and non-native English speakers in research and publishing. She is an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Wilderness and member of the European Association of Science Editors. She was Guest Editor of a special issue of Polar Research. She was the lead editor of an edited volume on the environmental impacts of human activities in Antarctica, and was responsible for developing the book proposal, recruitment of authors and the editing and restructuring of chapters. As an academic editor, she has helped non-native English authors publish in peer-reviewed journals in the domains of biology, ecology and environmental science.
