Academic Background: Dr Singleton has conducted research in the fields of psychology, neuroscience, cognitive sciences, autism spectrum disorder, public health, and social sciences over the past 14 years. Her PhD thesis investigated non-social cognition across the autism spectrum. She has experience designing and conducting laboratory and field experiments, including the use of electrophysiology and cortisol measurements, quantitative and qualitative surveys, cognitive testing, and workshop/focus groups, and analyzing the data collected using various statistical and qualitative methods. Dr Singleton has experience using SPSS and NVivo.

Publishing History: Dr Singleton has authored peer-reviewed papers including for the high impact journal Autism Research and has presented at several international conferences. She has also acted as a peer reviewer for Autism Research.

Editing and Reviewing Experience: Dr Singleton has been working as a freelance scientific editor since 2017, and has edited over 10,000 peer-reviewed articles as well as medical and legal textbooks. She has edited for journals in a wide variety of disciplines, including life sciences, computer science, physical sciences, social sciences, engineering, chemistry and materials science, environmental sciences, medicine, and public health. This has included editing for grammar, spelling, academic tone, and consistency as well as specialist academic (developmental) editing to improve structure, flow, and scientific accuracy. She is familiar with style guides including APA, AMA, Chicago, and Oxford, and is adept at editing to various journals' specifications. She has experience editing in both US and British English and writing and editing in LaTeX. In addition, she gained extensive experience writing and editing scientific articles, (successful) research proposals, and books at the University of Oxford (UK) as a research facilitator for a multidisciplinary department, at the University of Bath (UK) as a research assistant in the Department of Psychology, and as the manager of the Quantum Engineering Centre for Doctoral Training in the Department of Physics at the University of Bristol (UK). Dr Singleton joined Edanz as an Editor in 2024.

Writing Experience: As well as writing her own published papers, Dr Singleton contributed to a chapter in a book on how computers can help people with special needs in 2016. During her work as a Research Facilitator, she contributed to the writing and improvement of several academic articles. She has written successful research proposals for funding including sections of applications for multi-million-dollar international grants in the fields of life sciences and social sciences.
